Description

Image of the month of January 2018 extracted from the following images: 10x15 sec Ha, 10x30 sec Ha, 10x 120 sec Ha, 10x180 sec Ha, 10x120 sec L, 10x180 sec L, 5x RGB 30 sec, 10xRVB 120 sec, 5x RGB 180sec + Darks , Flats and Offset.

2.5 hours of exposure

Stacked and processed with PixInsight with a final HDR treatment to define the nebular heart

The wide-field optical camera on ESO's VLT Survey Telescope (VST) -- has captured the spectacular Orion Nebula and its associated cluster of young stars in great detail, producing this beautiful new image. This famous object, the birthplace of many massive stars, is one of the closest stellar nurseries, at a distance of about 1350 light-years.
